The seminar was launched on Azerbaijan’s new economic targets

  • The Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (APA) and the Center for Analyses of Economic Reforms and Communication of the Republic of Azerbaijan (CAERC) launched joint seminar on “Azerbaijan’s new economic targets”. In the opening of the seminar, Dr. Vusal Gasimli, CAERC executive director made a speech on “Establishment of new economic model”. He informed that, new economic model in Azerbaijan is established under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. “The country economy as well as completely adapting low oil income, at the same time develops and increases the competitiveness. Strengthening of Azerbaijan’s position in “Doing Business 2018” and “Global Competitiveness” Reports is example of the success of establishment of new economic model. The strategic governance mechanism functions in the country and the reforms are firm and complex. Beginning from 2018 year, the temp of economic growth will get higher. The position of the country in regional and global value chains will get stronger by conducting reforms and created infrastructure”.

    Pr. Urkhan Alakbarov, the rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, provided speech on “Economic reforms and formation of cadre potential in Azerbaijan: process and result”. The rector spoke about innovative development, established by nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and continued successfully by the President Ilham Aliyev. He gave information to seminar participants on successful results and significance of provided issues in the field of formation of human potential in the country and improvement of continuous preparation system of government servants as the content part of this policy in the Academy of Public Administration, acting by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on September 22, 2017, as leading educational, methodical, scientific and analytic center, which carries specialists on relevant specialties for public administration and executive boards. Academician told about the role of the issues, provided in the country to raise the quality of human potential, as well as establishment of public administration system, responding to the requirements of dynamically developed community. Talking about the the analyses, based on the evaluation of UN, World Bank and other authorized international organizations about innovative progress of our country, the rector stressed that, the country’s gaining high achievements in economic and social field in a short time, worldly considerable initiatives directed to the challenges of XXI century, increasing international reputation transformed Azerbaijan to the regional and global leader in several directions. There was established economic base for sustainable development in the country in last 10 years. In recent years, Azerbaijan prevails majority of “Great Twentieth” and “Great Seventh” countries according to many sustainable development and social indicators. Good governance and combination of government institutions, civil society and private sector’s activity stays in the base of this success. In this direction, the activity of Mehriban Aliyeva, Azerbaijan First Vice-President, President of Hedar Aliyev Foundation is very significant.

    It was noted in the seminar that, besides bachelors, master degree and post master degrees, Academy of Public Administration also realizes the preparation of government servants. More than 1600 government servants were trained in the Academy last year. It was decided to organize joint seminars for government servants by Academy of Public Administration and the Center for Analyses of Economic Reforms and Communication.

    Then, Faig Gasimli, macroeconomist of the Center for Analyses of Economic Reforms and Communication continued the joint seminar on “Azerbaijan’s new economic targets” in two different presentations. One of these was Monitoring and Evaluation in the example of Strategic Road Maps, other was about Strategic Planning for government structures, associations and organizations.

    It should be noted that, the participants of this training were employees of various government structures.
