The Asian Development Bank and the Center for Economic and Social Development discussed the economic reforms in Azerbaijan

  • Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communications received the delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The ADB delegation consisting of Edmond Ginting, Director for Economic Studies of the Bank, Amy Hampel-Milagros, economist and Aziz Heydarov, manager was given detailed information on the economic reforms implemented in the country and the results of monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the Strategic Roadmaps. It was particularly noted that Azerbaijan, thanks to the ongoing economic reforms, managed to outrun most of the countries of the ADB in the "Global Competitiveness Report", which in turn opens wide opportunities for establishing and expanding the relations between Azerbaijan and the international and regional financial institutions.

    Development of a document on diagnostic research in Azerbaijan was another topic discussed during the meeting. The sides also touched upon the issues related to the reforms in the field of human capital formation, increasing productivity, development of trade, medium-term development strategy of the country, and exchanged views on the priority areas of the Country Partnership Strategy with Azerbaijan for 2019-2023, which will be prepared by the Asian Development Bank.
