Representatives of UAE National Defense Collage positively assessed Azerbaijan’s reform experience

  • Vusal Gasimli, Executive Director of the Center for Analyses of Economic Reforms and Communication of the Republic of Azerbaijan (CAERC) received Salim al-Shamsi, Brigadier General of the United Arab Emirates National Defense College (UAE) and his delegation, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan.

    Vusal Gasimli, CAERC executive director first provided detailed information for guests about economic reforms in Azerbaijan. He said that, even though Azerbaijan had no direct access to the world ocean, it has played significant role in delivering hydrocarbon resources of whole Caspian basin. Azerbaijan has fastened the development of North-South and East-West international transport corridors, such as Baku-Tbilisi-Gars railway, Baku Sea Trade Port and Astara-Astara projects. V.Gasimli also gave information about newly established “Digital Trade crossroad” of Azerbaijan. He stressed that, the crossroad is very important in establishing of digital space on Great Silk Way, as well as creation of single electronic space in European geography. Vusal Gasimli, reminding the international conference organized in Baku on “Digital Trade Crossroad of Azerbaijan: Development Perspectives” in October, added that, the crossroad is also significant structure for the development of electron economy in Muslim world.

    Ayaz Chaparli, head of Economic Analyze and Analytical-Information department of the Center for Analyses of Economic Reforms and Communication made a presentation on the economic reforms in Azerbaijan, Strategic Road Maps and information on monitoring and evaluation worked out according appropriate document.

    During the meeting, it was noted that Azerbaijan and the UAE were exemplary countries, implementing successful economic reforms in the Muslim world and applying strategic management. The cooperation between the countries on diversification of economy and expanding the experience exchange is desirable. Attraction of export investments of UAE to transport, logistics, industry, tourism and agriculture spheres of Azerbaijan is possible. It was emphasized at the meeting that, UAE could contribute to the elimination of digital tension in the Middle East and creation of a single digital space by participating in Azerbaijan’s Digital Trade Crossroad.

    The delegation of National Defense Collage of United Arab Emirates (UAE) also got acquainted with the conditions created for exporters in “One Stop Shop” Export Support Center. It was noted that Azerbaijan and the UAE have cooperation opportunities in the field of mutual exchange of the experience, gathered in export support.
